Dear people,

I am looking for a book for my father-in-law, he has been looking for it for quite some time and I would like to assist him here. The problem is only compounded because he is not sure of the title, and only bits of the book assist him (so unfortunately: no names, writer, publisher, etc.). What I do know is that the book was printed around 1930.

The title could be "The Village Field Guard" or something along those lines - that's the subject of the book; it seems to take place in a village situation a lá Swiebertje with characteristic figures such as a village blacksmith and the village field warden who is appointed as a rookie in this village to keep order there.

Unfortunately, this is where the information ends for me. Possibly it was published by a (small) Christian publisher (name unknown to me), as mentioned, circa 1930. Apologies for the lack of further information, but can someone help me and my father-in-law with this? Apparently it is a burning piece of youth sentiment for him.

Thanks in advance,

Richard

From before my time.

The only Dorpsveldwachter that I can find dates from 1899 (2nd edition 1909) and is of the (large) Protestant-Christian publisher Callenbach.

From around 1930 only Find the old constable , but it probably won't be.

What comes close in terms of story (see here ) is The new constable , but that one is from 1947. It is from a Christian publisher (Voorhoeve).
