De munt, de 1793 Chain Large Cent, was de allereerste munt bestemd voor circulatie die in de Verenigde Staten werd geslagen. Het koperen centje komt uit een in 1993 gevonden partij Amerikaanse munten.

The coin, the 1793 Chain Large Cent, was the very first circulation coin to be minted in the United States. The copper coin comes from a batch of American coins found in 1993.

Ben inmiddels bezig met het aanvullen van de catalogus munten met de Amerikaanse centen van de nog niet daarin voorkomende jaartallen. Daarna volgt de rest t.z.t. ook, zodra ik goede foto's kan vinden. Momenteel ben ik bij 1842 gebleven, maar de komende dagen/weken/maanden volgen er meer. Op termijn is het de bedoeling dat alle (dan wel de meeste) Amerikaanse munten in de Catawiki-catalogus zijn opgenomen, inclusief in officiele catalogi beschreven varianten en zo mogelijk ook inclusief koloniaal geld en andere voorlopers van het federale geld (lees: van de Republiek der Verenigde Staten). Dit is nog een hele klus en dat zal dit jaar hoogstwaarschijnlijk nog niet af zijn (niet alle foto's zullen te vinden zijn op internet, ben ik bang).
Als je kijkt, zie je dat er inmiddels ook nog duurdere munten bij zijn gekomen. Vooruitlopend heb ik overigens de duurste Amerikaanse munt er al vast bij gezet: 20 dollar 1933. Deze zal waarschijnlijk voorlopig nog niet in een verzameling opduiken, laat staan in de mijne ;-) Natuurlijk kan iemand hem in zijn/haar zoeklijst plaatsen, maar als de munt dan onverhoopt wordt aangeboden, schrikt hij/zij zich rot en kan hij/zij hem vermoedelijk toch niet betalen. Maar het is aardig om hem erbij te hebben in de catalogus (blijven dromen dus, haha).
I am now busy with supplementing the catalog of coins with the American cents of the years not yet included in it. Then the rest will follow in due course, as soon as I can find good photos. Currently I have stayed at 1842, but more will follow in the coming days / weeks / months. In the long term it is the intention that all (or most) American coins will be included in the Catawiki catalog, including variants described in official catalogs and if possible also including colonial money and other predecessors of the federal money (read: of the Republic of the United States). This is still quite a job and it will most likely not be finished this year (not all pictures will be available on the internet, I'm afraid).
If you look, you can see that even more expensive coins have been added. In anticipation, I have already included the most expensive American currency: 20 dollars 1933. It will probably not appear in a collection for the time being, let alone in mine ;-) Of course someone can put it in his / her wish list, but if the coin is then unexpectedly offered, he / she is shocked and he / she probably cannot pay it anyway. But it's nice to have it in the catalog (keep dreaming, haha).
