Gouden zegels als je het mij vraagt.

In de decennia na overgang naar de nieuwe landsnaam zijn er tientallen overdrukt geweest.  Weinig exemplaren zijn in het echte postale systeem terechtgekomen.  Moeilijk om er een waarde aan te kleven, maar ze zijn gestempeld (echt gebruikt) enorm schaars.  Behoren tot het duurdere segment.

In die tijd waren er net geen 5 miljoen inwoners, waarvan > 50% onder de armoedegrens.  Veel briefpost was er dan ook niet.  De mensen die er leefden hadden echt wel andere beslommeringen.

In die tijd waren ook de meeste Afrikaanse landen nog niet besmet door Stamperiia en consoorten.  Die hadden nog voldoende omzet met materiaal waarop  Arabische en daarna vnl pseudo-Russische-autonome-republieken als land/gebied kon worden geplaatst.  En ook van de vele al dan niet bewoonde eilanden.  Ik kan er een Vijgenboom over opzetten.

De getoonde zegels zijn imho pareltjes die een verzameling op een hoger niveau brengen, en bij andere verzamelaars de tanden laten knarsen :)

In the decades after the transition to the new country name, dozens of them have been overprinted. Few copies ended up in the real postal system. Difficult to put a value on them, but they are stamped (really used) and extremely scarce. Belong to the more expensive segment.

At that time there were just under 5 million inhabitants, of which > 50% were below the poverty line. There was not much letter mail. The people who lived there really had other concerns.

At that time, most African countries were not yet infected by Stamperiia and similar species. They still had sufficient turnover with material on which Arab and then mainly pseudo-Russian autonomous republics could be placed as a country/area. And also of the many inhabited and uninhabited islands. I can put a Fig tree over it.

The stamps shown are, in my opinion, gems that take a collection to a higher level and will make other collectors gnash their teeth :)

Raoul62 the top would be to have the stamps still on the letter sent. Collecting such stamps on letters is really interesting in philately that tell you sometime a lot about history of theme particularly if the you got inside still the content of the letters.

Raoul62 Het beste zou zijn als de postzegels nog op de verzonden brief staan. Het verzamelen van dergelijke postzegels op brieven is erg interessant in de filatelie, omdat ze je soms veel vertellen over de geschiedenis van een thema, vooral als je nog steeds de inhoud van de brieven te pakken hebt.

Ja, dat wel.  Maar dit is een postzegelcatalogus.  Onderdelen als Macrofilie en Eofilatelie zit daar niet bij.
Op LD worden enkel verzamelwaardige items die in oplage gemaakt zijn opgenomen.  Daar horen poststukken niet bij, die zijn uniek.

In tegenstelling tot Postwaardestukken, maar dat is een totaal ander verhaal.

Yes, that's true. But this is a stamp catalogue. Components such as Macrophilia and Eophilately are not included.
Only collectible items that are made in editions are included on LD. Postal items are not included, they are unique.

Unlike Postal Stationery, but that's a completely different story.

Raoul62 I understood perfectly that LD catalog is not about letters that are all unique but as we are in the philately section of the forum it is useful to share about more than just stamps like you did explaining about Benin how was the postal system at this time.

Personally I am always, like you did,  keen open from stamps alone to more specific historical information to better understand the reality behind collecting stamps. The catalog is the catalog but a forum can be also a way to learn more like you did here.

Raoul62 Ik heb perfect begrepen dat de LD-catalogus niet gaat over brieven die allemaal uniek zijn, maar aangezien we ons in de filateliesectie van het forum bevinden, is het nuttig om over meer te vertellen dan alleen postzegels, zoals jij deed toen je over Benin uitlegde hoe was de postsysteem op dit moment.

Persoonlijk sta ik, net als jij, altijd open voor meer specifieke historische informatie om de realiteit achter het verzamelen van postzegels beter te begrijpen. De catalogus is de catalogus, maar een forum kan ook een manier zijn om meer te leren, zoals je hier deed.
