Alleen bij objecten die moeilijk te scannen zijn (omdat ze niet plat zijn, of te groot) zijn foto's de beste optie. Die moet je nemen bij vol daglicht, liefst buiten. Maar niet in de directe zon, want dat geeft kans op weerspiegelingen en schaduwen. Het licht moet diffuus zijn (van alle kanten komen), dan wordt ook de witte ondergrond evenwichtig belicht en vermijd je blauwzweem.
Om die omstandigheden binnenshuis te kunnen nabootsen met kunstlicht (en met de specifieke kleurbalans-instellingen van je camera) heb je al behoorlijk wat professionele kennis nodig.
Voor kleine platte zaken is een scanner inderdaad veel handiger.

To be able to simulate those conditions indoors with artificial light (and with the specific color balance settings of your camera) you need quite a bit of professional knowledge.
A scanner is indeed much more useful for small flat things.
