Ik meen ooit eens te hebben gelezen dat Amerikaanse vellen erg krap op het vel werden gedrukt. Bij het aanbrengen van de tanding werd er dan een rij tandinggaten aan de buitenzijde niet aangebracht, omdat dat zinloos was. Gevolg is wél, dat die zegels van de buitenste rij aan één zijde tanding missen en wíj met 8 "varianten" worden opgescheept, die soms ten onrechte voor boekjeszegels worden aangezien. Kan helaas geen bron noemen; wellicht een 40 jaar oude Scott, maar mijn geheugen is niet meer wat het geweest is.
I think I once read that American sheets were printed very tight on the sheet. When applying the perforation, a row of perforation holes on the outside was not applied, because that was pointless. The consequence is that those stamps of the outer row lack perforation on one side and we are presented with 8 "variants", which are sometimes mistakenly mistaken for booklet stamps.
