Can someone give me background information on this figurine, and tell me how much it is worth in good condition?

This is the link to the catalog profile of the figurine:

https://www.catawiki.nl/catalogus/beeldjes-figures-figurines-miniaturen/namen/afrikaans-wooden-figurine/7194111-afrikaans-wooden-figurine

Thank you very much Karen Hartman

Hello Karen

It seems that this is made for tourists.

See for example the fingers of the left hand. Have been filed straight.

It is certainly not ebony, but a light type of wood that has been made brown with a dye and filler. Look closely at the bottom. This is not straightforward.

I also bought wood carvings in Africa years ago and I recognize the process.

Warm regards from Wim

Thanks for the information! By any chance, do you also know how I can find out the value of the statue for free? Is there a site that specializes in this?

Thank you, Karen

You could try a day of Between Art & amp; Kitsch. Or during an open tacation day at an auction house. Once you have found out, do you still want to add the correct value to the item?
