Dit jaar viert de NAMAC, de Nederlandse Algemene Miniatuur Auto Club, haar vijftigjarig bestaan. De club luistert het jubileumjaar op met onder meer een enorme miniatuurauto-expositie in het Louwman Museum in Den Haag. De Jubileumtentoonstelling van de NAMAC loopt van 1 juli tot en met 9 augustus 2015.
De Jubileumtentoonstelling omvat maar liefst 112 vitrines, die zijn opgesteld in de Great Hall en de Toyoda-zaal van het Louwman Museum. Leden van Europa's grootste vereniging van verzamelaars van miniatuurauto's laten ieder met een eigen thema allerlei aspecten van hun hobby zien. Ook toont de club historische voorwerpen en documenten uit haar rijke geschiedenis.
Elke vitrine is ingericht door een ander NAMAC-lid, zodat allerlei verzamelthema's aan bod komen. Er is immers veel meer dan de spreekwoordelijke Dinky Toys en plastic bouwdozen. De tentoonstelling geeft een idee hoe breed de miniatuurautohobby is, overigens zonder in die opzet compleet te kunnen zijn.
Verzamelaars geven hun eigen invulling aan de hobby. Veel NAMAC-leden bouwen, verbouwen en restaureren hun modellen zélf. Daarvan zijn op de Jubileumtentoonstelling ook legio voorbeelden te bewonderen. Natuurlijk staan de vitrines vol met miniatuurauto's, trucks en andere voertuigen van allerlei fabrikanten, automerken en schalen – van Dinky Toys tot Matrix, van de T-Ford tot de Toyota Prius, van vuilnisauto's tot racetrucks en van politieauto's tot race- en rallyauto's. Maar ook een indrukwekkende maquette van het voormalige Citroën-gebouw aan het Stadionplein in Amsterdam is te bewonderen, net als intrigerende schilderijen van Dinky Toys die duidelijk laten zien dat kinderen ermee gespeeld hebben en modellen van auto's uit liedjes, voor het ultieme jeugdsentiment...
Catalogus
Bij de Jubileumtentoonstelling geeft de NAMAC een waardevolle catalogus uit, waarin de club en de deelnemers aan de expositie toelichting geven op al het moois dat is tentoongesteld. Natuurlijk zijn elke dag ook NAMAC-leden aanwezig, die nog meer kunnen vertellen over deze mooie hobby en die graag de vragen van bezoekers beantwoorden.
Het Louwman Museum wordt gerekend tot de allermooiste automusea ter wereld. Neem bij de balie van de NAMAC Jubileumtentoonstelling de lift naar de tweede etage en geniet van een ruim een kilometer lange wandeling door de hele geschiedenis van de auto. Veel van wat in de vitrines van de NAMAC-expositie op schaal te zien is, staat in het echt, in volle glorie, in het museum.

DUTCH GENERAL MINIATURE CAR CLUB CELEBRATES
50TH ANNIVERSARY WITH GRAND ANNIVERSARY EXHIBITION
This year the NAMAC, the Dutch General Miniature Auto Club, is celebrating its fiftieth anniversary. The club will liven up the anniversary year with, among other things, a huge miniature car exhibition in the Louwman Museum in The Hague. The Jubilee Exhibition of the NAMAC runs from July 1 to August 9, 2015.
The Anniversary Exhibition includes no fewer than 112 showcases, which are set up in the Great Hall and the Toyoda room of the Louwman Museum. Members of Europe's largest association of collectors of miniature cars, each with their own theme, show all kinds of aspects of their hobby. The club also displays historical objects and documents from its rich history.
Each display case has been decorated by a different NAMAC member, so that all kinds of collecting themes are covered. After all, there is much more than the proverbial Dinky Toys and plastic construction sets. The exhibition gives an idea of how broad the miniature car hobby is, without being able to be complete in that format.
Collectors give their own interpretation to the hobby. Many NAMAC members build, rebuild and restore their models themselves. There are also countless examples of this to be admired at the Jubilee Exhibition. Of course, the showcases are full of miniature cars, trucks and other vehicles from all kinds of manufacturers, car brands and scales - from Dinky Toys to Matrix, from the Model T to the Toyota Prius, from garbage trucks to race trucks and from police cars to racing and rally cars. But also an impressive model of the former Citroën building on Stadionplein in Amsterdam can be admired, as well as intriguing paintings by Dinky Toys that clearly show that children have played with them and models of cars from songs, for the ultimate youth sentiment ...

At the Jubilee Exhibition, NAMAC publishes a valuable catalog, in which the club and the participants in the exhibition explain all the beauty that is on display. Naturally, NAMAC members are also present every day, who can tell more about this beautiful hobby and who are happy to answer the questions of visitors.
The Louwman Museum is considered one of the most beautiful car museums in the world. From the desk of the NAMAC Anniversary Exhibition, take the elevator to the second floor and enjoy a more than a kilometer walk through the entire history of the car. Much of what can be seen to scale in the display cases of the NAMAC exhibition is in real life, in all its glory, in the museum.
