With regard to our common goal of providing such a complete and reliable catalog, I totally agree.
I can also live with the obligation to add at least 1 image, provided that there is indeed a possibility to deviate from this in exceptional cases (from my part only after consultation with all administrators mutually, perhaps is a separate administrator forum perhaps useful for that?) With the comment of rene to completely reject an item with little information even though it does exist, it is a shame because it will be completed later, I certainly agree. Because I have done this myself for a number of my own “incomplete” items in order to supplement them later with a photo. Perhaps the “purists” might have some difficulty with that, but if we wanted to implement this principle 100%, we would still have to remove a lot of items from Peter Bonte's collection afterwards, in my opinion, since he also not all items had / have an image! And let's be honest, his database was certainly not optimal, but it did give Rene and Marco the chance to make a more than good start with Catwiki, without Peter Bonte's database they probably wouldn't even have started it. , I think so?
Fine, not to officially count the items without an image for the competition until Dec. That will cost me a number of items (but in my estimate at most about 5% of my total (so an item or 35 to 40, is that correct Rene?).

I'll take another look at this problem. Indeed too many results on the entered letters I suspect.

I have noticed that my entered V codes have been changed to Vo codes. I will continue to use the V and K code as long as no decision has been taken.

Nice! I had also spoken to Jan at the Stripdagen. He already had some additions to his own albums.

The site is by no means intended as “just a nice overview”. Indeed, our goal is to provide a complete and reliable catalogue. In principle, it is the intention to only supplement the catalog with items with at least 1 image (which is why it is also mandatory). Exceptionally, this could be deviated from to describe rare items that certainly exist but of which no image is yet available. For example, I once – Theo knows all about this by now – had a special envelope with the Danish Tom Puss picture album. It certainly exists, but we don't have a picture right now. So it could go in without an image. It will be added automatically later, precisely because so many people are active. It does not require a specific person.
I also see other rare items that were little information about in the beginning are now being completed. And we're only a few weeks away. Completely rejecting an item with little information while it does exist is therefore a shame because it will certainly be completed later.
What I also regularly see happening is that people first add items incompletely to complete them later, when they have more time.
Perhaps it would be an idea to officially give administrators the option to add items without a picture if they are sure that the item exists (then it will not count for the top-5 lists).
With the review, it is indeed already possible for all administrators to reject items of which the existence is not certain, so that the catalog remains reliable.
@ Kamiel: We show prices of good condition in the photo gallery on the one hand because that is by far the most common condition among collectors and on the other hand because prices for new condition on rare items are often difficult to determine (“what the hell”)

Apparently there is still a difference of opinion between 100% certainty and the "total overview". The reviewing process offers quite a few possibilities for recovery (doesn't it, Arco?). I suspect this conflict is very fundamental. What is the purpose of this site? The makers must ask themselves that. And I suggest it again. A nice overview? Or the impetus for an overview that is as complete as possible. In the first case I quit. I do not believe in a "reliable appearance to the outside" without an attempt to approach being complete. And again, Matla where are you, because those publications without an image, you could avoid. But without Matla, I think we should continue, even if it is without images

It seems to me that the makers have deliberately chosen that no items can be entered without at least 1 image being delivered at the same time. The factor "reliability" will also have played a significant role in that decision.
I think Catawiki will have a more reliable appearance (image) if it stays that way. But now I'm repeating myself.

The complete overview, that is (important to me as a cataloger), by the way, removing the red asterisk, that intrigues me and not making it a mandatory field, how does that work? Rene or Marco, help me

Okay okay accept new items without photo, but then one has to be consistent and remove the red asterisk from the field where the photo has to be entered, and make it not a mandatory field.
If the prices are subordinate (can I income) and the nice pictures don't matter, what is really important?

No, no, a catalog is not about the market, it is about an overview. As far as I am concerned, prices are secondary. Kamiel's post ignores my comment that a catalog should approximate a complete overview) (!). That will not be possible, I am aware of that, but refuse newly entered items without an image, what purpose does that serve?
Just a nice overview with nice pictures? Good heavens, that cannot be the intention of this site, can it? & Gt;

Of course there is nothing special about it when it is, for example, simply blue (lucky luke from lekturama) or, for example, only green (douwe dabbert from lekturama)
But for those who consult Catawiki, it shows what books from, for example, a collection look like.
So the one time the back cover will provide information by means of data about the album, the other time it will simply only show the functionality, namely just cover with possibly. a tan.
That is why I do not believe that this will allow you to indiscriminately show a backside.

In my humble opinion, newly entered items without a photo may immediately be rejected when revising.
I do not want to diminish the knowledge of the contributors, but I have already seen them pass with the minimum of information only 3 of completed the 4 mandatory fields, the 4th was of course the missing photo
I also have the question why is the price shown in good condition and not that of new condition?
Since the vast majority of collectors go for new condition anyway? Mvg Kamiel

I still want to get involved in the discussion. Of course it is recommended to add backs if they actually add something. Either because the back indicates a difference in expenditure on the item, or because the back is nice to display. But just adding all the backsides seems pointless to me.
With regard to adding items without an image, I have a different opinion than the last discussants. A catalog aims to be as complete as possible and then indeed half an egg is better than an empty shell. If that addition is based on something without an image. So not e.g. “Hearsay.”
And. . . where is Hans Matla?

For a clear identification of the old tufts, it is best to use Tintin in concrete terms by Peter Ottens. To what extent you can process his information in Catawiki, I have to ask him again (todo)

I choose as complete as possible, because it allows you to create information much better.
If you want to know if a particular album exists, I wonder how to determine it properly without the correct images.
For example, I have a Tintin album with a back cover that is not yet in this dbs. This can be determined at the back, NOT at the front.
I don't know in which series I can place this album, because I depend on the back images.
So completeness is very important in this situation in my opinion. Completeness is also much more functional in my opinion.
Otherwise, you might as well make a list in Excel or something.

A trick has been found for this, by more than one user. I myself do not enter any item that I do not own, even if I know it exists. If everyone would do that, Catawiki would be complete less quickly, but the information in Catawiki would be more reliable.
It depends on what you choose.

Better one complete than 2 half, in my opinion.
And a back cover of an album sometimes says more than 100 words.
Besides, how do they manage to enter new items without a photo?

When you are aware of items, but are not the owner of them, it is difficult to post images when you want to add those items. But you can hope that owners of those items will ever add images to it. the backs of albums: When you want to add a whole series of items, adding the fronts seems more important at the moment. Backsides can be added later anyway.
