Hördur Karlsson

Emigrated to the United States in 1954.
He studied arts in Iceland and continued at the Corcoran School of the Arts and Design in Washington, D.C., and at Mexico City College. Joining the International Monetary Fund in D.C. in 1958, Hörður dedicated 30 years of service, starting as a graphic designer and ascending to the position of art director in the graphics department.
He also was an abstract painter and he contributed designs for stamps to prestigious organizations like the U.S. Postal Service and the United Nations.
