Eigenlijk ben ik best sceptisch over de hele gang van zaken.
Catawiki, de verzamelsite, werd geprofessionaliseerd met betaalde shops, begrijpelijk, er moeten ook inkomsten zijn om professioneel te kunnen ontwikkelen en exploiteren.
Op het moment dat ook een veilingsite ging draaien, ontstond er een wig tussen veilingsite en verzamelplatform. Het verzamelplatform deed mee om het enorme potentieel aantoonbaar te maken maar verdween letterlijk naar de kleine lettertjes onderaan de veilingsite. qua vernieuwing en uitbreiding van mogelijkheden konden de verzamelaars niet/nauwelijks op de miljoenen van het veilinghuis rekenen. Niks uitbreiding of actualisering van mogelijkheden, nul investering of beloning, eerder blij zijn dat je (gratis) mag blijven bestaan.
Nu ben ik benieuwd of de oprichters inderdaad terugkeren om hun geesteskind nieuw leven in te blazen, investeren en weer relevant maken, of dat er via het verzamelaarspotentieel en de gepaard gaande metadata weer een volgend project en verdienmodel loert. Welgegund allemaal, maar met grote kans dat de verzamelaars weer een krap decennium met een kluitje in het riet blijven zitten.

No expansion or updating of possibilities, zero investment or reward, rather happy that you can continue to exist (for free).
Now I am curious whether the founders will indeed return to revitalize their brainchild, invest and make it relevant again, or whether a next project and revenue model is lurking through the collector's potential and the accompanying metadata. All welcomed, but with a good chance that the collectors will remain huddled in the reeds for another decade.
Met dien verstande dat het verzamelplatform in de loop der jaren redelijk uitgebouwd is en je dus geen tientallen ontwikkelaars meer nodig hebt.

Misschien is dit ook de ideale gelegenheid om het verzamelplatform op te schonen van verzamelaars en shops die niet meer actief zijn.
In plaats van "Opt out" zoals vermeld in het informatiebericht zou men ook kunnen kiezen voor "Opt in".
Men moet doen concreet iets ondernemen om mee te gaan naar het "nieuwe" platform. Zo hou je de dus alleen de wel actieve verzamelaars en een reeel shopaanbod over.
Zomaar even een suggestie....

Er zijn inderdaad een hoop overleden 'profielen', iets als binnen 365 dagen inloggen anders verdwijnt het account automatisch zou mooi zijn.
There are indeed a lot of deceased 'profiles', something like logging in within 365 days otherwise the account automatically disappears would be nice.
Voor verzamelingen zou ik dat niet acceptabel vinden. Iedereen mag wel eens een tijdje iets anders doen en weten dat de vastgelegde verzameling in veilige handen is.
I wouldn't find that acceptable for collections. Everyone is allowed to do something different for a while and know that the captured collection is in safe hands.
