Within Stamps of Libya there is a series (issue) 1984 September Revolution. That series exists twice, apparently the same. I am unable to combine them into 1 series in such a way that they come together. Can anyone help with that?
These catalog numbers are:
[Edit moderator] #3131475, #6365647, #5952519, #2089847.

Thank you in advance!
Koen.

If you enter a # and immediately after it the number, you have a link...

If these are duplicates, indicate so in an empty field by stating DOUBLURE of xxxxxxx, replacing xxxxxxx with the number it is a duplicate of (the earliest entered). The super admin regularly searches for DOUBLURE and then merges them together, as there are already "followers" out there, so there's no simpler solution.

koenkuijpers You cannot replace a value on LD with the same value. If it concerns few items we have to pull out the box of tricks, if it concerns many items it is administrative work (too much effort manually).
7451Dick It is not about duplication, it is about stamps that are under 2 issues with identical name.

2 stamps had type 'Series'. This way they are not neatly presented in the issue. Now you do.

It is not clear, so first avoid endless debate by identifying the problem.
Possibility 1.: The stamps are identical, the titles are different, the issue names are identical. Then one is a duplication.
Possibility 2.: The stamps are not identical, the titles are the same, the issue names are not the same. That is possible, is confusing, but no problem. Do nothing or change a title.
Option 3: The stamps are identical, but have different issue names. Then one is a duplicate.
Possibility 4.: The stamps are not identical, have different issue names, but belong to the same issue. Have that adjusted by an administrator.

Two identical Release Names existed: 1984 September Revolution and 1984 September Revolution.
That shouldn't be possible, but it happens sporadically anyway.
In this case the issues originally had different names, viz. "1984 15th anniversary of September Revolution" and "1984 15th anniversary 1st September Revolution". An administrator has changed both names behind the scenes to "1984 September Revolution", causing a duplication of issue names.
Only an administrator like Jummeke can solve that.

7451Dick The user had clearly provided the numbers, so you immediately know that you mean situation 4 and what you have to do as an administrator.
stripspeldjes As I indicated in the previous post, there are several options (it was about 1 item): a) user applies a trick b) admin applies a trick c) only super admin can merge (but for 1 item I'm not going to bother postmaster)

Put the lock on it, I think it's been okay for a long time now.

Meanwhile, I have established that the data quality for the area of Libya is below par was. Don't panic, I won't ask again to make a small effort for the face value. I have already largely refined that for Libya. And I've already been able to save a few series.
A few items are so pitiful ... sorry but I put 'DOUBLURE' in them in the hope that those items REALLY disappear. Any smarter user and/or administrator knows how much work it takes to try and straighten something like this out (and you're still left with a not-so-great item). I think we should lay a bar and set it at 5 cm already. Normally that bar should be 1 meter 20.
There was also a 'desert fish' present in Libya lol.

But it wouldn't be bad if administrators and the more educated users once in a while look at a country based on the possibilities that are already offered to evaluate the quality (and do something about it).
Possibilities plenty:
- open filter 'Nominal value' and look in the list to see what's there . There are usually some that immediately show that it is wrong (eg '2 cent');
- select on the issue names. 'Not filled in' or no year in front, then you know that those items still need some work;
- select on usage type 'unspecified';
- select on FDC, Maximum card, Occasion envelope, Series, Sheet, Block . .. and then look: most are not allowed to have a nominal value. Nominal value may only be entered for a Block consisting of one stamp. Everyone can count to 1 (hence: the bar at 5 cm :));
- filter on 'All' and navigate to the last items. Usually there are some lost items there because of the lack of the year of issue.

The only question that remains is what to do with an item without an image (or a really too blurry image) and the data is missing or obviously wrong...
I'll put 'DOUBLURE of: invalid item' or something like that. I fervently hope that the bar may be set at 5 cm. Guessing which other item (with correct data and good image) should fly into the trash as a duplicate because something like this was 'already present' in the catalog? That is rewarding laziness and punishing good efforts. Personally, I think it's bad enough that such an item has tarnished the column for 10 years, leaving a blemish on its quality. After all, the somewhat experienced collector who sees such a thing thinks: what a mess (DDT from 'FC De Kampioenen' would call: 'Bende amateurs'). If they turn their backs because of that 'first impression', you will NEVER see them again.

Choosing is losing. I opt for a minimal quality. And then you sometimes lose an item, yes. But in the long run it will lead to profit. In time and in quality.

 Two identical Issue Names existed: 1984 September Revolution and 1984 September Revolution.
That shouldn't be possible, but it happens sporadically.

This happens when you keep typing in the form and eventually DO NOT choose a name that is shown in the dropdown. Then 2 identical Issues can arise at that moment. This can only be prevented by making such a dropdown a closed list.

Then you can no longer add new issue names? Then it doesn't seem like a good plan to me.

 Collectioneur  If the entry in an indexed (manageable) field is identical to an existing name, the system automatically appends the entry to that name from the list (even if it contains e.g. different capital letters), even if you do not select from the drop-down menu. Only if there is a small deviation (such as an extra space) it will be a new name. Duplications are really almost impossible in this way.
That's why it's also impossible to correct a series name with wrong capital letters in this way.

But as I explained, there was something different about the stamps with these stamps. hand.

That's right, my statement was/is, to prevent problems like this, that it is important to choose from the dropdown (also for other sections/fields). A space etc. is entered quite quickly without noticing.

It is really about completely identical issue names.
You will also see both of them in the drop-down. And it doesn't matter which one you choose...it's always the wrong one. 'Issues' of the same name, each containing a fragment of the series side by side, and which are only complete together. But together you don't get them (on the screen). Unless you open two windows in Windows side by side on your screen.
What I think is that issues, whatever the name, have their own (unique) id behind it. This way, identical names can occur. There should be a 'key' on issue name to prevent the system (anywhere) from adding an issue with the same name (with a different ID behind it). Software should also ensure that the first word (after the year of issue) is always capitalized. Once an issue name without that capital letter is present you can stand on your head, but improving with a capital letter is impossible.

There are so many things that should be checked for issue name ... this week I am every day spent hours adding and improving issue names, looking up and adjusting issue years, ... Each time a few drops on a hot plate. And that record just keeps getting hotter. With us this is called 'mopping with the tap open'.

It would be:
1. it should not be possible to add an item without an issue year;
2. may not be possible to add an item without specifying country/territory;
3. must be checked that the first 5 positions of an issue name consists of a year + a blank.

Apparently a check is performed that the year of issue is not before the year of the issue name (if filled in) convenient. Must have been different in the past because such items can be found (and then you get an error on issue while you only want to change the nominal value).
In other words: checks are possible, but currently insufficient.

Raoul62 and Collectioneur both problems are recognizable. "Even" changing a detail on an existing item means occasionally sifting through the entire item because the year preceded the year of issue. I also had to rename both series several times to get them together.
