Pay attention to what you pay for the artworks here.

I enthusiastically bought a work of art, half of which was available on Marktplaats.

So first check the web for similar / equivalent offers.

And sometimes Marktplaats is more expensive, or Ebay, etc. The advantage of the internet is that you can shop. It doesn't make this site more expensive, but sometimes it's cheaper elsewhere.

A piece of advice that you could have followed yourself.

Most good advice comes from lessons learned. Buying this piece too expensive was an acquired experience.

Taking something like advice that you had not yet invented / experienced yourself is quite difficult.

Assuming that you can get bargains here is apparently not smart.

So what remains .. good advice is still expensive .. (for me)

But that is the nice thing about an Auction,

as a buyer you can be lucky and buy something at an auction for a small price the other way around, even if there are more bidders who would like to have it. it several times over nice for the seller,

I certainly have things in my collection that if I sell them now, they will not yield 30% for what I paid for them, but it was probably the last thing there was still missing when I bought it at an auction so what is expensive (by the way without shouting we understand you too)

and then Marktplaats Cheap? how often is there a certain price and you send an e-mail would you like to have it for that price or there is no answer at all, or it has already been sold forgot to take it away a month later it is not there, or I already have 3 bidders who offer more by mail what are you riding to pay for it, or you bid and once again it disappeared while you were the only bidder etc, etc, etc.

and when you bought it just wait and see what you get because there is no return possible, feedback can also be a mess !!!

at Cata you can be sure that if you are the highest bidder that it is also for you because of the feedback system plus auctioneer you rarely fall a bump.

vrg baron.

Dear Administrators,

It is clear that you, as motivated employees of Catawiki, want/must create a rosy picture of the platform.

The core of my argument was:

"First take a look online to see what you want to buy in the auction, the goods offered are apparently not always unique or special at all. (Which usually justifies a special price)

This can prevent you from creating your own rip-off by buying something around the corner for (in my case) half the price.

I'll leave it at this. (even when the predictable reaction follows :)

Good luck

@foverbeek

Dear administrators,
It is clear that as a motivated Catawiki employee you want / need to create a rosy picture of the platform.

Again for clarity: Administrators are users who voluntarily put a lot of energy and time into improving the catalog. They are therefore not paid and are not employees of Catawiki.

And most importantly: administrators have nothing to do with the auctions.

It is a pity that Foverbeek is so generalized and makes such moderately substantiated statements.

The market and trend (including supply and demand) determine the price.

So pottery used to be more worth double and now it sometimes goes away for an apple and an egg.

On Catawiki you can indeed find bargains at, for example, the auctions.

I am therefore very satisfied with the Art auctioneer: Dick Siersema and with the prices on Catawiki.

It happened to be administrators who reported.

There is no auction purchase. Only from a purchase on Catawiki

@foverbeek: Still a reaction: If the core of your argument is "Take a look elsewhere", don't start with "Pay attention to what you pay for the artworks here."

Furthermore, it falls under "Learning Money", of which I have also used too much ......

There is no question of an auction purchase.

At first that may not have been clear, but this morning Foverbeek said:

The core of my argument was: "First look online what you want to buy in the auction

(And you can always cancel a purchase in a shop. )
