Hi,

I am new to catwiki so hope I do it as well. A while ago I bought the following image:

http: // www. catawiki.nl/catalogus/figures-figurines-miniaturen/series-films-games/donald-duck/2082681-donald-duck-symphony

The statue appears to be handmade, it also looks like this. Is an original from Disney and consists mainly of wood. I know it's from a Symphony play by Disney. Anyone have any idea of the value and history of this beautiful statue?

Thank you in advance

Pascal

The statue is called "Donald's Drum Beat and is from 1996.

The original price was something like $ 200. I think it is no longer available.

That is clearly not the same. The size is a lot smaller (21 cm), the legs (of the drums) are different and there is a pedestal underneath.

I am also not convinced that Pascal's statue is really made of wood.

Is that correct image that RikMooren indicates is a statue made (from my head) of porcelain. I have come across them before. My statue consists of Donald who is made entirely of wood, The drums are made of a kind of hard plastic (I think) and the drumsticks are made of metal (copper). This statue is also not from the US, but was made in the Netherlands.

The statue, if it is the porcelain version, is indeed no longer made. Have seen this at a price of $ 650.

rikMooren thanks for the site. I sent those people an email to see what my image is like. Hope they respond.

I have now been able to obtain more information. According to a Canadian collector, this is a very rare store display.

I also recently got hold of a Clarabella cow. For those interested, I will upload a photo of this shortly.

As a Disney collector I am always interested in everything related to Disneyana. Your first link to your statue does not work, so I am still curious which statue you mean. Did you enter it in CataWiki? If not, please do, just like Clarabella Koe.

CataWiki may be a kind of Marketplace, but with the difference that you can only offer items that are also in the Catalog. That way, collectors can also enjoy this beautiful item, including myself. I enjoy everything that exists in my collection areas and so regularly browse through various sections.

You can then immediately add the new information you have found to the item.

I am curious and yes the Disneyinfo page is known among the Disney collectors, but as far as Disney reference is concerned, there is a lot to be found on the internet. I hope that CataWiki will become that more and more.

Under the following category are 3 large images of Disney characters:

http://www.catawiki.nl/catalogus/beeldjes-figures-figurines-miniaturen/hoofdreeksen/1085061-symphony -hour

  • Clarabella on the Violin
  • Donald Drum Beat
  • Goofy's Grace Notes

It includes the following description:

As far as is known now, it concerns either a big fig or a store display. There is a series of this in a small format with all the actors of the film symphony hour from WDCC. The big figs, however, consist of Donald, Clarabella, Mickey and Goofy.

I am 100% sure that these are not "Big figs" (officially called "Big Figurines"). The main reason is that the above figures are made of wood. The real Big Figurines are always "resin" statues. These "resin" statues are exclusive to Walt Disney World (Orlando) and Walt Disney Resort (Anaheim) and only available there until the edition is sold out. These are not delivered to retail stores. There are also variants that were only available through the Disney Catalog or Disney Auctions . The first series was released in the late eighties. This series was made in the Philippines and was initially not available in the USA, but ended up there via importers. This series was also made of resin. The second series were the first official Theme Park exclusives and came in 1989. From this series on they were made in China. Most images are made in editions of 500 or 600 copies, unless specifically stated otherwise. Almost every statue comes with a, usually loose, pedestal (except for the first series). On the bottom of the pedestal is almost always a mark that it is an exclusive Disney product from one of the above-mentioned exclusive methods of obtaining an image. In any case, it is always on the accompanying box. In addition, the images are hand painted very accurately and smoothly. Some parts are also covered with other material in some images, such as e.g. a velvet layer and / or a light facility has been built in.

The three above-mentioned images are not finished so accurately. The Disney logo on Clarabella's pedestal looks very dubiously "real". In addition, I have been following these images for quite a few years and have never encountered Big Figs from the series Symphony Hour .

All in all, I am sure that it is not Figs are. I suspect these are unofficial replicas of the WDCC Symphony Hour series of smaller frames released in '97. I doubt the authenticity of these images.

Try http://www.tomart.com/webstore/index.php?main_page=contact_us for information. At Tomart they have a lot of knowledge of Disney Collectibles.

It took some searching, but here's some more info:

http://disneypixarfanatics.blogspot.nl/2011/08/symphony-hour-donald-duck-disney-store.html

One of the comments about the value in the post above mentions an auction ( with an estimate of £700-1000 ). The auction in question is also still there:

http://www.1818auctioneers.co.uk/auctions/search.php?keyword=symphony&status=complete

Hammer Price: £0.00

http://www.ricardo.ch/kaufen/antiquitaeten-und-kunst/figuren-und-objekte/sonstige/disney-symphony-hour-donald-drums/v/an731466110/

Another one for CHF 550 (+/- 450 euros).
