Magazines/List genre is TOO crazy7 messages

Waarom is er geen vrije ingave bij genre? Wie heeft de lijst samengesteld?

Heb zo juist #10202331 toegevoegd, een krant volledig gewijd aan Koning Albert I, wegens zijn overlijden.

Bij Genre vind men wel overlijden Pim Fortuin en overlijden Johan Cruyf, maar gewoon overlijden niks!

Heb dus enkel speciaal nummer en koning kunnen invullen!

Why is there no free entry for genre? Who compiled the list?

So right #10202331 added, a newspaper completely dedicated to King Albert I, due to his death.

In Genre you will find the death of Pim Fortuin and the death of Johan Cruyf, but simply no death!

So I was only able to fill in the special number and king!

Genre is inderdaad een bizarre verzameling onderwerpen geworden, volgens mij was dat aanvankelijk niet zo. Misschien onopzettelijk door de verplaatsing van items naar deze rubriek, @Collectioneur ?

lordernie Ik denk niet dat de “genres” die jij wil toevoegen hier bij horen, die lijst moet juist veel compacter worden. Je kunt extra “thema’s” wel toevoegen bij “Onderwerp van het onderdeel”, daar lijken ze me meer op hun plaats.

Genre has indeed become a bizarre collection of subjects, I don't think that was the case initially. Perhaps unintentionally due to the movement of items to this section, @Collecteur?

lordernie I don't think the “genres” you want to add are included here, that list should be much more compact. You can add additional “themes” to “Subject of the section”, I think they are more appropriate there.

Ik selecteer bij Genre 'Koninklijke femilies'.
En waar vul ik dan het veld Soort onderdeel of Onderwerp van het Onderdeel in Collectioneur 
Daar zou je dan makkelijk 'Overlijden Koning Albert' kunnen plaatsen.
Die komen niet te voorschijn
Niet bij optie Wijzigen.
Evenmin bij optie Nieuw item toevoegen.
Of kan @DeBijzaak 'verheldering' brengen?

Well, try some things without saving them definitively, of course.
I select 'Royal femilies' under Genre.
And where do I enter the Type of part or Subject of the Part field in Collectioneur
You could easily place 'Death of King Albert' there.
They don't appear
Not with Change option.
Nor with the Add new item option.
Or can @DeBijzaak provide 'clarification'?

buizer Je moet natuurlijk wel eerst een (nieuw) Onderdeel (vergelijkbaar met Verhaal bij Strips en Boeken) toevoegen, voordat je daarbij een Onderwerp kunt vermelden. Die link staat helemaal onderaan (grijze balk Onderdelen).

buizer You must of course first add a (new) Part (similar to Story for Comics and Books) before you can mention a Topic. That link is at the very bottom (gray bar Parts).

Het veld Genre is niet bedoeld als thema o.i.d.
Genre is bedoeld om aan te geven waar het Tijdschrift of Krant in valt te classificeren.

Daar het veld Genre vol werd gegooid met allerlei thema-woorden, is er een jaar geleden besloten om de lijst op te schonen en gesloten te maken. Indien er voor een nieuw tijdschrift/krant een nieuw Genre moet worden aangemaakt, dan kan dat op het forum of via een pb worden gemeld.
Het werk aan Genres is ongoing en helaas nog lang niet klaar.

Net als bij sommige andere rubrieken (Strips, Boeken, Overig e.d.) is het mogelijk om detailinformatie toe te voegen door een nieuw Onderdeel toe te voegen. Gelukkig wordt daar steeds meer gebruik van gemaakt. Zoals buizer terecht opmerkt, moeten daar de hulpteksten nog worden geschreven. Dat zal binnenkort worden gedaan.

The Genre field is not intended as a theme or something similar
Genre is intended to indicate what the Magazine or Newspaper can be classified into.

Since the Genre field was filled with all kinds of theme words, it was decided a year ago to clean up the list and close it. If a new Genre needs to be created for a new magazine/newspaper, this can be reported on the forum or via a PM.
The work on Genres is ongoing and unfortunately far from finished.

As with some other sections (Comics, Books, Other, etc.), it is possible to add detailed information by adding a new Section. Fortunately, this is being used more and more. As buizer rightly points out, the help texts still need to be written there. That will be done soon.

Zoals Collectioneur al aangeeft, is het veld genre bedoeld als overkoepelend voor het gehele tijdschrift.
Die genre lijst is in de loop der jaren geheel uit zijn voegen gegroeid, omdat het een vrij in te vullen tekstveld was. En geen beheerder om dat bij te houden.
Collectioneur vroeg aan mij om daarmee te beginnen. Dus zo gezegd, zo gedaan. Ik ben al ruim een jaar bezig om de genre lijst op te schonen.
Eerst de meest voor de hand liggende termen bij elkaar nemen of verwijderen.
Nu ben ik structureel bezig vanaf de A oplopend om alle personen, landen en merken eruit te vissen.
Die moeten allemaal HANDMATIG naar onderdeel verhuisd worden, zodat alle informatie die invoerders hebben toegevoegd niet verdwijnt. Momenteel ben ik bij de letter D, wat een hele uitdaging is.
Dus ik ben nog lang niet toe aan de letter O, waar de overlijdensdingetjes staan van diverse personen.

Op die manier heb ik de genre lijst nu van meer dan 5800 termen terug gebracht tot iets onder de 2300.

Het object #10202331 heb ik nu veranderd zoals het zou moeten zijn met genres:
Nieuws en actualiteiten (omdat Soire Illustre een nieuws en actualiteiten blad is)
Doden- of Begrafenisrituelen (omdat dat het thema is van het gehele nummer)
Koninkljike families (ook omdat dat het thema is van het gehele nummer)

De bijzonderheden als persoonsnamen etc. kunnen bij onderdeel neergezet worden. Die horen niet in de genre lijst.

En onderdeel is juist gekozen. Immers een tijdschrift of krant bestaat uit meerdere dingen dan alleen artikelen. Dat kunnen jullie zelf ook zien aan het lijstje waaruit je daar kan kiezen.
Afbeeldingen, cover, bijlagen, katernen, cartoons of strips, feuilletons, gedichten, nieuwsberichten, etc.
Die zijn niet allemaal in de vorm van een artikel.

Ja, er moet ook nog op veel plaatsen (extra) uitleg geplaatst worden. En er moet een handboek voor Tijdschriften en Kranten komen. Die komen nog. Eerst opschonen.

Het  schijnt overigens dat ik naast LastDodo ook nog een baan heb en prive ook van alles te regelen heb. Van die twee laatsten kan ik leven, van het eerste niet.
Als het allemaal niet snel genoeg gaat, dan zijn extra handjes zeer welkom. Ik heb hele lijsten van zaken die verbeterd moeten worden. Dat probeer ik zo goed mogelijk bij te houden, zodat ik niet twee keer naar zaken hoef te kijken.

Ik hoop dat dit e.e.a. wat duidelijker maakt. Maar ook dat dit niet in een paar dagen gebeurd is.
Het is echt heel veel werk.

As Collectioneur indicates, the genre field is intended to cover the entire magazine.
That genre list has grown completely at the seams over the years, because it was a free text field to fill in. And no administrator to keep track of it.
The collector asked me to start with that. So no sooner said than done. I've been working on cleaning up the genre list for over a year.
First combine or remove the most obvious terms.
Now I am structurally working from A upwards to identify all persons, countries and brands.
These must all be MANUALLY moved to section, so that all information that importers have added does not disappear. Currently I am at the letter D, which is quite a challenge.
So I'm still a long way from getting to the letter O, where the death items of various people are located.

In this way I have now reduced the genre list from more than 5800 terms to just under 2300.

I have now changed the object #10202331 as it should be with genres:
News and current affairs (because Soire Illustre is a news and current affairs magazine)
Death or Burial Rites (because that is the theme of the entire song)
Royal families (also because that is the theme of the entire song)

The details such as personal names, etc. can be placed under section. They don't belong in the genre list.

And part has been chosen correctly. After all, a magazine or newspaper consists of more things than just articles. You can see this for yourself from the list you can choose from there.
Images, cover, appendices, sections, cartoons or comics, serials, poems, news items, etc.
Not all of them are in the form of an article.

Yes, (additional) explanations still need to be provided in many places. And there must be a handbook for Magazines and Newspapers. They are still coming. Clean up first.

It seems that in addition to LastDodo, I also have a job and have to arrange a lot of things privately. I can live on the latter two, but not on the first.
If things aren't going fast enough, extra hands are very welcome. I have whole lists of things that need to be improved. I try to keep track of this as best as possible, so that I don't have to look at things twice.

I hope this makes things a bit clearer. But also that this did not happen in a few days.
It's really a lot of work.
