In 1998 I bought about 100 stamps in Beijing. I put them in an album and only now am I ready to take a closer look at them. What strikes me is that they are very cool stamps, but all have a diagonal line at the bottom right (see the photo as an example). I assumed that this was done as an alternative to a stamp, so to mark them as 'used'. Now I get the feeling that the stamps are not real or I can assume that they are indeed normal 'used' stamps.
Does anyone have a similar experience?

WillemPost I share your doubt. I have seen such diagonal stripes before in a pre-printed album in color. I'm curious about the reaction of others.

I found out that these are so-called CTO stamps, which have previously been discussed in this forum. I don't know how to refer to a specific message, but it is a message from postmaster and ErikBoere on October 31, 2010.
It's clear to me now.

WillemPost are those stripes printed or made with pencil?
The stamps are real, if the perforation is 11x11½ correct.
but it looks like perforation 13

aartinge The stripes are printed and the perforation is approximately 11x11.5 or 10x10.5 (I don't have a perforation gauge). The printed stripes concern me because they are identically located in the same place on the bottom right of all stamps as if they were there before printing. But, who does something like that and why?

WillemPost yes it is strange, if in doubt I would quickly sell them as stamped, the price is right unless you paid more. otherwise it will continue to gnaw

I wouldn't do WillemPost . There is a good chance that you will then receive a bad review from the buyer.

I am afraid that these are indeed fake stamps. On Taobao (Chinese marketplace) you can buy these types of albums (see below) for less than 2 euros. There are several in circulation and although the stamps are stamped in my album, that line also runs in the bottom right corner. It could even be the sign of fakeness.

Yeah vliegeren, I suspect so too. You could say that I have the 'MNH' fakes without the stamps, like on your stamps, but with just the dash. That red folder looks familiar, but I no longer have it. Shame.
