If you click through a page (for example the catalogue) to an item (detail page), and then back again, you shoot back to the top of that page. Is there a technical way to remember where on the page you left off?

I solve that differently:

click on the item with the scroll wheel (of the mouse), or right click and 'open in new tab (or new window)'. If you close that detail, you will automatically return to the screen where you were sitting, and everything is still neatly in place.
Working with the scroll wheel requires some level of hand-eye coordination.
After some practice you can't live without it :)

If you have to adjust something for (almost) all items of an issue (sequential number in the series, for example):
1. click on the stamps in the correct order with the scroll wheel. The new tabs are in order.
2. combine mouse with keyboard: [Ctrl]+[Page down] (= next tab) and click on 'Options / Change item' each time with the mouse
3. back to the first tab (which is now ready to be changed): 10 x [tab] and enter the appropriate sequence number, [Ctrl]+[Page Down] (= next tab, so next item), enter the appropriate sequence number, . ..
4. back to the first tab: click out of the input field and [End] + click on the 'Save' button, [Ctrl]+[Page Down], click out of the input field and [End] + click on the 'Save' button, . ...
5. back at the first tab: cross over it (close tab).
The screen where you left is still there. Press F5 and you will see the effect of your changes, right where you were working.
Really great band work :)
Applicable to many bandwork adjustments.

At nominal value eg with 4 x [tab]. If you see in an area that there are 15 items with nominal value 2c, you can place them correctly in NO TIME using the method described above.
Please practice frequently with 'Face value' :)

Ah I didn't know that click on scroll wheel Raoul62, is a good tip.

My mouse has a 'go-back' and a 'go-forward' button in thumb position. Then left-click on item (view info) and thumb-click on go-back button is super handy.

So I'll leave my request anyway :)

koenkuijpers Raoul62 ,

I don't have this myself in Chrome on Apple Macbook. If I scroll down in a catalog gallery and then click on an item and then go back in the browser, I arrive at the same position on the gallery page. But that doesn't happen to you?
How is that with others?

Rene it depends on what you do with that item, if you look at the homepage (where the latest new items are) in an item and back you stay in the same position. But if you change something, you shoot up again...

With Windows and Firefox I always return to the top of the page after a back. Regardless of whether I change something or just view.

No problems here. ( pushState) is active on every page. (Chr. Edg FF).
[edit] to a certain extent (as Morits pointed out). There is a difference between static pages and dynamic pages (cat vs homepage).

With Safari after back, always return to the top of the page. When changing and when consulting.

Rene Sorry I forgot to reply.

I've since found out that it's something else:

I had explained that my mouse (M705) has a go-back button that simulates the go-back arrow in the browser. Standard function of this mouse.

- Catalog: mouse button -> back to top / arrow in browser -> back on position
- Collection: mouse button -> back to position / arrow in browser -> back to position
- Search list: mouse button -> back on position / arrow in browser -> back on position

So it only seems to go wrong when I go back in the catalog with the mouse button.
