Nice renovation, but if you had looked at history first you would have seen that the pages were changed 2 years ago in the first edition.

Isn't it more convenient to look at the content rather than the number of pages? The first edition was published in 1985 and covered the years up to and including December 1984. Subsequent reprints will therefore have an extension from 1985...

Well, the collectors/sellers no longer have 1st edition, and the seller now sells the only 1st edition.

Then 1048 is the first edition, 1054 is the second edition?
The difference cannot be 6 pages in any case.
Unnumbered (blank) pages in the back must be included.

Unnumbered (blank) pages in the back must be counted.

And when I do, I usually see someone throw in a few more pages later. People just keep messing around with the items, I think they freeze more.

fazerco I sometimes see pages with Roman numerals. They will also have to count, but that kind is not yet in the hint when filling in.

That hint seems pretty clear to me. Basically, all pages between the cover (endpapers) must be counted whether they are numbered or not.

This issue runs until December 1984
#Bookstore in the handbook clearly states that they should not be counted.
#9235237 is a hardcover and according to the rules
12.1 BOOKS AND ALBUMS With softcovers we count all pages between the covers. For hardcovers, we count all pages between the covers, except for any endpapers. Those endpapers do not count, even if they are nicely printed.
So not counting the first blank endpaper becomes 1052 pages

I didn't mention endpapers, I could indeed have specified that.
My point was that often the last numbered page is mentioned, which results in an impossible number.
The hint says that it has to be an even number of pages, but that's not the whole story.

1054 is also such an impossible number, because it's not divisible by 4.
A sewn book is composed of folded sheets of paper, and that is at least 4 pages. More often the quires are 8 pages, sometimes (depending on the book format and paper size) 16 pages and very occasionally 32 pages.
Only glued editions, which were printed as loose sheets, for example, sometimes have multiples of 2 (but not 4) pages.
