Another problem with issue names (it was from 3 days ago that another one was reported).

Based on postage stamp #5219601 I started to assign the Maximum Cards within that Issue. add. Via Options / Copy item.
No changes have been made to 'Issue', so you cannot choose from a list.
Now those 4 maximum cards are there (including #9015315). In a 'new' Issue with the same (identical) name.
Click on the issue name near the stamp and you will not see the maximum cards.
Click on the issue name near the maximum card and you will not see the stamps (and FDCs) .

The issue name also appears twice in the Issuance selection screen, identical.

I really don't get that anymore.
You copy an item, and then data (invisible, behind the scenes) is changed?

I don't change anything for a while so that  Collectioneur can watch.

If this can help: The duplicate name problem existed before. It concerns 9 items in version1 and 158 items in version2 (because an Issue Name applies worldwide and you cannot see that with a filter in a specific country).

I have circled what I see in red ... isn't that a problem?

I understand that there are several chips behind it, each with a different ID, where the name is the same for both in the box EN.
However, if you start from an existing item and you don't touch 'Issue' at all ... that it gets changed to wrong anyway ...  That's what I don't get.
Maybe I should from now on start with an empty item and leave most fields empty ...  Those items cause fewer problems (written with a grin).

If I look into my crystal ball and try to understand how the site works, I think it will only work properly if we first remove all the duplicates. A programmer should find out.

The issue names did differ. The first had wwf in English instead of WWF, the second only had the Dutch version and the other three languages were empty.
Is it correct now?

7451Dick No, renaming as administrator doesn't help anymore (what's the saying about the drowned calf?). Only way is to merge.
And as Helv also said: if you want programmers to figure something out, give an example and don't touch anything.

At Württemberg there are also two full holders, issue 1860 Wapen 2x and 1863 Wapen 2x. I think these should also be merged, I can't get them together. One more question, how do I create a direct link to an issue?.

Solved. The empty "island" disappears by itself.

What (and how) has been solved?
Already written on the forum that duplicate staging areas (such as Issue) can be reported to the super admin (or me), who can easily merge them.

They are now merged.

You first go to the relevant Issue and copy the url.
Then select the word in your message to which you want the link and click on the paperclip (3rd icon in the bar) and paste the url into the link. Then click on the orange button Link.

Indeed solved in that one issue in that area/country .
Fine!

Next step (now Collectioneur may intervene as top manager of the data).

At the highest level in the stamp section I see that there are still 2 identical issue names.

Somewhere they have to be 'merged'.

Immediately step three of the wire:
The other issue names in the screenshot should normally all be '1996 WWF' as well. The issue names (then series, formerly series ...) are determined by those who add items, and over time insight is introduced. Some time ago it was stated by postmaster that 'YYYY WWF' should be used uniformly as the issue name for WWW releases everywhere. After all, whether it is about Walruses or Goats is stated in the title of the items (and is normally indicated via 'Themes/Motifs').
Many of those things have been corrected manually. But it didn't always turn out well (like here in this example). And by no means everything has been adjusted in accordance with the insight. Something like this could be 'automatic', and better.

For '1996' can it be ensured that the in the screenshot
issue names shown all refer to one sheet '1996 WWF'?

And then the final stage of the rocket:
Can the screwball on duty also do this over the years? :)
1995 looks ok, but 1994 doesn't...
In my opinion, such "effort" could save us from some future suffering in the future.

WWF is a mega issue across almost all countries/territories (even Cinderella areas) and over many years. It is a collection area with many followers, collectors, users. With many seekers, providers and buyers.
It is also one of my collecting areas, to which I now pay some attention. There are usually 4 stamps per issue, a block/sheetlet, 4 FDCs and 4 maximum cards. There are still tons of items to add. I already know where to place the 'future suffering'...

I had left the 1996 WWF Issue as duplicate for a while, but has now been merged.
Before merging Issues, the translation must also be checked/corrected, otherwise something will be merged into an Issue that is not has been translated correctly or has not been filled in.
With the WWF Issues this does not apply, because the same is used everywhere.

Before I merge all YYYY WWF, I want confirmation that this is indeed the intention is, as you describe in step three of your post.
The double YYYY WWF, which have no additions, I will merge from now on.

Mergements can't be rolled back, so it has to be in 1x go well.

Hence also postmaster in my message, then the alarm will go off there :)
There have also been additions here and there in the release names such as (I) and (II). I think that dates back to the time when series names were made 'unique' in order to be able to get them separately for each country. Now that is no longer necessary. It is what it is: WWF. There is only one such organisation.

The addition is necessary if two series are published in the same country in one year. If there is no addition in the issue in this specific case, the stamps are all together in the main screen.

All "YYYY WWF" Issues without additions have been checked and possibly merged.
Were there no issues in 2020, 2021 and 2022?
There are also 3 issues that do not start with a year:

Top!
I'll take a look at that deviating one. When almost the entire mess has been cleaned up, the manual 'final touch' is really a very small effort.

Frageria
Don't panic. There might be one in there, but usually if you look at it (looked?) you can see that the addition was once put there because of my claim
from the time when series names were made 'unique' to be able to get them separately per country

An example is the flower series Germany, different editions in one year. These will all be placed together without additions at the time of issue. And Raoul62  it's still too early to panic, maybe later?. #7305555 is next to   #7156687 in the main screen, the release date differs by three months, release is the same ? .

One #6397643 I don't know what to do with that. But Helv is a specialist of Russian states?
I have set the issue to '0000 WWF'. The year blank does not exist, so it must be the year of the Lord then :)
All the craziness in one stamp. It's just practical, so that the issue then comes to the front (in the list) instead of at the back, stands out much more, gets on the 'nerves' more quickly and therefore has a better chance of an upgrade.

Collectioneur
In 2020, 2021 and 2022, there were still WWF issues of stamps (especially the African countries, where commerce subrogates as official mass producer of 'stamps'). But LD has not been the pole of attraction for WWF collectors until now. A bunch of irregularities. And besides the stamps, the peripheral products were scarce. A WWF collector collects those things together.
Last year I once added a platoon of Maximum Cards and FDCs. The emphasis for me personally as a user was then on adding my stamp collection.
Now I have started again with a platoon of Maximum cards. Countries alphabetically. Busy with G. I always work structurally according to the principle of systematic chaos :)
If I get through it in a few weeks or months, I can check out the FDCs. I also have a few thousand of those from WWF. There is a good chance that not everything is on LD now.

If most years, especially from the beginning, get well-furnished for WWF, then those specific collectors will automatically end up on LD. And they might have the modern stuff to add.
First attraction, then conversion.

Example is the flower series Germany
We are working on WWF, that flower series is not in there.
It is / was an acute WWF - issue - problem.
Except for one exception (to my knowledge) in a long/area there are no Been 2 WWF series in the same year.
The exception concerns an aquatic animal series where the same series with and without white border was released. The search time starts NOW. :)
Meanwhile I do the shopping and prepare lunch, with an aperitif. Today I don't have to work, just relax.

What (and how) has been solved?
Collectioneur I changed the Issue Name 1996 WWF (9) to the 9 stamps that were wrong, so that they were at 1996 WWF (158).
I could have waited for a super admin to merge them, but for so few items it was barely work.
And if you hadn't merged the two, the empty area would have been automatically removed the next night.

Indeed solved in that one issue in that area/country.
Raoul62 I didn't understand that you were talking about all WWF releases, that is indeed a bit more work (which has already been partly done by Collectionneur).
Has anyone in the meantime explained how those double names arose? That was not a programmatic error, but was caused by human intervention.

No, you couldn't have known that. But in my strategy I always start with a concrete fact, a detail, and then work bottom up to a structural solution. An incident exposes a problem, a problem (if you consider it important enough) gets a service turn. New incidents of the same type should not reappear after that.
Is a bit like the vintage ITers did with ITIL, as it were. Modern techies find ITIL completely passé, but it did have something.
Helv
be removed
Don't open my mouth ... if you can't even have an item with only a blurry photo removed, even without a year and without a description. Not even an item without an image, without a year, without a title, without an issue...

Choosing is losing, everyone knows that. I choose quality. And then you sometimes lose some quantity, yes.
I've been worrying about it the last few days. You jump from here to there to adjust all those signals of wrong and horrible input, but meanwhile the goofs keep pouring in.
Setting an item right sometimes takes hours of work. Adding an item correctly only takes a few minutes. No time to do it right, but time to redo it. Although by other people.
I think an item that you really don't have enough data about is not suitable for the catalogue. There you wait to add until you know a little more. LD should promote waiting by setting certain minimum requirements. eg. one year of issue. That seems to me to be the strict minimum for stamps.
In eg Yvert you won't find any items with just 'Sir', or '[148]'. Without indication of time, without description, without country ...   Is more of a children's statement: 'I have a piece of paper with teeth and a drawing on it. Don't you want to see it?'. :)
So you can add dozens of photos of vases on LD and just call them 'Vase'. Likewise, you can add dozens of blurry photos in the stamp category, without any data, and call them 'Stamp'. Don't get rid of it: there can always be someone who fills the item well. That's really not realistic for postage stamps.
Yes, I've been worrying about it the last few days.
