Stamps/NVPH field limited visibility6 messages

Het NVPH catalogusnummer wordt alleen gebruikt bij een beperkt aantal landen. Daarom is het systeem nu zodanig aangepast dat dit veld alleen zichtbaar is bij het invoeren/wijzigen van de zogenaamde NVPH landen/gebieden.

The NVPH catalog number is only used in a limited number of countries. That is why the system has now been adjusted in such a way that this field is only visible when entering/changing the so-called NVPH countries/regions.

Misschien een gemiste kans ...

Maak het veld land-specifiek dmv één bijkomend label-veld.  Laat de beheerder van een land (gebied) bepalen welke cataloog (voor Nederland en kolonies: NVPH, voor België en kolonies + EX-GEBIEDEN: OBP, voor Indonesie: Zonnebloem, ...) en toon altijd de 2 samen.  Bij Nederland het label (NVPH) en het vakje,  bij Congo Kinshasa / Zaire het label (OBP) en het vakje ...
Welke cataloog het wordt beslissen de administrators, en engageren zij zich om die beslissing aan te houden.  Beter iets dan niets?

Voordeel: 
- de cataloguscode en de 'vrije' omschrijving 'hoofdcatalogus' (of Officiële catalogus) moet niet meer in de bijzonderheden gezet worden.  Altijd hetzelfde veld, maar wel altijd nuttig gebruikt in welk land/gebied je ook bezig bent;
- geen verplichting voor elk land of gebied, enkel deze waar gretig gebruik van gemaakt wordt (OBP / COB en Zonnebloem bv), maar flexibel uitbreidbaar.  We gaan immers internationaal (iets groter dan Nederland alleen);
- de sortering is reeds voorzien op dat veld.  Enkel ifv land/gebied moet de keuzelijst iets anders ermelden ipv NVPH (wat in het labelveld voor dat land wordt bijgehouden);
- hetzelfde veld wordt ruim inzetbaar, daar waar een veld enkel voor één land toch wel zonde is (vloekt tegen alle regels van goed databasebeheer).

Voor België en (ex-)gebieden zou dat een héél grote verademing zijn.  Nu moeten er kunsttoeren worden uitgehaald om de mogelijkheid te bieden die items in een herkenbare volgorde te kunnen zien.  En wie die landen/gebieden als specialiteit heeft volgt nu eenmaal de cataloog die daarin gespecialiseerd is.
Ik denk daarbij bv. aan de opdrukzegels (series 'Gelegenheidszegels met opdruk - uitgifte A tot I' 1990-1996).  Waar een ijverige medeverzamelaar het nodig vond het geïnvesteerde werk na slechts 2 weken  teniet te doen door alles te wijzigen naar de volgorde van een andere papieren catalogus.  Namen van 'Uitgifte' (serie) incluis.  Waarbij niemand nog de algemeen gekende terminologie (ook op andere buitenlandse verkoopsites) kon herkennen.  Michel is nu eenmaal geen specialist van dit gebied, en gooit alles sekwentieel op een hoopje.
Tot daar mijn betoog.

Maybe a missed opportunity...

Make the field country-specific with one additional label field. Let the administrator of a country (area) determine which catalog (for the Netherlands and colonies: NVPH, for Belgium and colonies + EX AREAS: OBP, for Indonesia: Zonnebloem, ...) and always show the 2 together. In the Netherlands the label (NVPH) and the box,  in Congo Kinshasa / Zaire the label (OBP) and the box ...
Which catalog will be decided by the administrators, and they are committed to sticking to that decision. Better something than nothing?

Advantage: 
- the catalog code and the 'free' description 'main catalog' (or Official catalog) no longer need to be put in detail. Always the same field, but always usefully used in whatever country/region you are working in;
- no obligation for every country or region, only those that are eagerly used (OBP / COB and Zonnebloem bv), but flexible expandable. After all, we are going international (slightly larger than the Netherlands alone);
- the sorting is already provided for in that field. Only in relation to the country/region, the selection list must state something else instead of NVPH (which is kept in the label field for that country);
- the same field becomes widely applicable, where a field only for one country is a sin (swears against all the rules of good database management).

That would be a great relief for Belgium and (former) areas. Now art must be done to provide the opportunity to see those items in a recognizable order. And whoever specializes in those countries/areas simply follows the catalog that specializes in them.
I am thinking, for example, of the overprint stamps (series 'Occasion stamps with overprint - issue A to I' 1990-1996). Where a diligent fellow collector found it necessary to undo the invested work after only 2 weeks  by changing everything to the order of another paper catalog. Names of 'Issue' (series) including. Whereby no one could recognize the commonly known terminology (also on other foreign sales sites). Michel is simply not a specialist in this field, and he throws everything in a pile.
That's my argument.

Ondertussen, als beheerder Postzegels in stage, merk ik een bijkomend probleem op ...

Wie, onterecht het veld NVPH misbruikte in een gebied niet behorend tot de Nederlandse stal ... blijft vereeuwigd.  Je kan het niet meer ongedaan maken.
In dit voorbeeld, uit Burundi (Belgische stal) werd het veld gebruikt om de cataloguscode van de OBP in te plaatsen.  Dit kun je niet goedkeuren, maar ook niet rechtzetten.  Het zit er in:

Who, wrongfully misused the field NVPH in an area not belonging to the Dutch stable ... remains immortalized. You can't undo it anymore.
In this example, from Burundi (Belgian stable) the field was used to place the catalog code of the OBP. You can neither approve nor correct this. It's in it:

Mogelijke workaround is om eerst het land te veranderen in Nederland, de overige eventuele aanpassingen doen, Nederland weer terug veranderen in Burundi en daarna Opslaan.

Possible workaround is to first change the country to the Netherlands, make any other adjustments, change the Netherlands back to Burundi and then Save.

Ik had ondertussen een ander veld aangepast, dus staat die review niet meer bij mij lol  Een beheerder kan zijn eigen wijzigingen niet reviewen.  Een ander heeft 'm nu aan zijn been :)
Wie deze tegenkomt: multi scusi .. het was niet met opzet (maar komt goed uit weliswaar).

In the meantime I had changed another field, so that review is no longer with me lol  An administrator cannot review his own changes. Someone else has it on his leg now :)
