Someone will be waiting on the books category screen until they see your new contribution. Perhaps someone who is not very handy with computers and scanners, judging by the number of contributions.
Actually you made someone happy :)
But not impossible: after all, all new input appears immediately on the home page of the relevant section , where everyone can see it.

What don't you understand Peter? Nice and mysterious that '?????' ... but that's another thread :)

What Peter doesn't understand, I don't know, but what I don't understand, I do: "Perhaps someone who is not very good with computers and scanners, "...
Or you haven't finished your reasoning: you mean with "Someone will be waiting on the category screen of books until they saw your new contribution and scanners" that he copied that contribution immediately when it appeared on his screen, and that we are dealing here with a mere coincidence?

It is of course possible that someone happens to see that there is a new item in the catalog that he/she also has. And then thinks that he/she does want to sell that item. Also because there are no other providers yet.

Well RetepEttom (conversely I read 'Peter' in your nickname, that's why): it's a mere coincidence, but not that unusual. If you see a new item being added to the main screen of the category, which you want to place in your shop if you own that item yourself and want to get rid of it. Then you click on it and then you place the item in your shop.

"Perhaps someone who is not very handy with computers and scanners,"-> That salesman, when I look at the profile, is not handy with scanner and computers. Mere deduction. A member for 13 years, but the counter of added items is at 0. Not everyone either has a scanner available, or is handy with scanning and registering. You don't just need the courage to do that, you also need a lot of skill. And then LD is another good help: what someone adds, everyone can use. You can also use LD without computer or scanner skills.
Just as it is not given to everyone to perform on a stage in front of a large audience. That also takes courage (and skill). Every person is unique, and that's a good thing.

You can also always question the newly added items yourself, and then see if there is something in between that you can use (put it in your collection, offer it for sale, or if you want, place it in your wish list).

I thought it was obvious, hence the three dots (fill in the blanks).

"You can always interrogate the newly added items yourself": do you mean "request"?

I don't think you need a scanner, but a digital photo is enough, so a digital photo device, tablet with photo device, smartphone with photo device, mobile phone with photo device...
Nowadays they stick photo equipment and cameras in everything, including TVs.
I once took a picture with the microwave oven. From pizza.

Indeed, request, or retrieve :)

A scanner usually produces a nicer result. Then at least the edges are straight. With digital stuff, there's always a flaw somewhere. And then you still have to transfer them to PC to be able to update them in a nice way (no too big unnecessary borders). I agree that this is all possible with digital stuff, but I have mature hands and fingers. And eyes that already show some signs of aging. Works just as well on a normal keyboard, with a mouse, on a large screen.
And no problems with reflection, color deviations or blurriness.
Only with a real (better) photo camera, a tripod and adjusted lighting is that possible with a photo too. But then you still have the phase of 'transferring' the bits and the bytes.

Try something with video games (the children's WII games) yesterday. Appear very neatly on the image when scanned. Perfectly straight and colourfast. I'm afraid that could be disappointing with a microwave.
