I'm putting this post here (to avoid multiposting) but actually I would have liked to have a cozy get-together for administrators: Beer mats / Beer labels / Glass and crystal - & gt; Beer glass / Alcoholic - & gt; Beer bottle / Other - & gt; Bottle cap / Other - & gt; Advertising / Email boards / ... Can someone please set a general rule and then months of cleaning might get us somewhere. Country: for Biercoats the country where the felt was found, for Bieretiketten the country of origin (even if the label literally states that it is brewed under license), other sections have no idea. Same rule everywhere? Brewery: at Bieretiketten in 2017 the name of the brewery without the word "brewery" followed by the municipality, in reality all different throughout the categories. What about the groups / holdings by the way? A) literally what is stated = unclear B) Brewery Municipality [Artois Leuven] C) Brewery Holding Municipality [Artois (AB Inbev) Leuven] D) Group / Holding [AB Inbev Brussels] = not the real brewery gets messy. I choose C, but then everyone has to follow.

In general, in Lastdodo we use the country where the object was issued or put into circulation. Not the country where the object was created.

My suggestion would be to omit the term brewery from the name, unless it is clear that it is an integral part of that name. Identical to how we use the term publishing house in books.

Generally in Lastdodo we use the name of the brand / imprint / label etc, not the name of the holding company or parent company.
note 1) And then the general name, not the specific spelling of that name on the object. If that specific spelling is important for the identification of the object, it should be in a separate field, just like in the postcards section.
note 2) The exception is natural persons, where we always use the parent company (the real name) and not the brand (pseudonym, alias)

Making uniform agreements is already difficult. Following up on those agreements by everyone is hardly feasible.

The omission of the term Brouwerij / Brauerei is certainly a good one. I am also in favor of adding the location to a general name of a brewery. Cleaning up the file is virtually impossible. In any case, that results in a lot less breweries below B and that makes searching by brewery a bit easier.

Breweries that have been taken over and whose (general) name disappears remain a problem, especially if they continue to carry the brands (mats) of the predecessor.

I would leave out the holding name, otherwise everything will be InBev and Heineken
