Kenn Duncan (22-09-1928 / 27-07-1986) was a prominent dance photographer following a career as a skater and dancer. Duncan worked as a principal photographer for After Dark and Dance Magazine and a score of Broadway shows.. His photographs also regularly appeared in various leading magazines
Mr. Duncan won acclaim for his photographs of the world's principal dance companies and leading dancers, including Mikhail Baryshnikov, Dame Alicia Markova, Rudolf Nureyev, Alexander Godunov, Cynthia Gregory, Judith Jamison and Gelsey Kirkland. He also produced portrait and fashion photography.
Kenn Duncan died July 27, 1986 in New York Hospital of toxoplasmosis, a complication of AIDS.
His complete archive was acquired by the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts in 2003.
Mr. Duncan's photographs are in permanent collections of several American museums and the Dance Library of Israel and Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.
